I also live in Shijiazhuang. I am not sure if I have met you yet – i think maybe I have at McDonald’s Bar? Anyways, I have been here for 3 months now working and mainly been hanging out with my Chinese friends. Having a spare moment at work (of which I seem to have many..), I thought I would trawl the internet in search of expats living in the Shiz. Feel free to email me. Hope you recover from your cold soon.
Hello to your dad. How was his flight? He was telling me about your new business. Congratulations.
BTW. A friend of mine’s son is going to follow in your footprints next year (2007). His name is Alex Edmonds. He also is well over 6 feet tall. I gave him your e-mail address. He goes to Princeton and has been taking Chinese for 2 years.
I’ve been thinking about signing up for the KCE program and travel to SJZ for about 6 months. If you’ve got time, please send me some information about how things were in SJZ. How’s your Chinese these days, and is the SJZ Mandarin very different from, say, that of Beijing and/or Shanghai? For what I gather, they’re pretty different from each other. Oh, by the way, as you were feeling sick, what’s the medical treatment in SJZ and the insurance policy in the KCE program like?
I used to live in the states, and have actually been to San Diego as well (saw Shamu at Sea World)! Cool place, and lots of sunshine… I thought I could get used to this!
Hi there, Andrew.
Wondering if you are still here in SJZ or if you are abroad already.
I’ve been living here for just a few days, and would like to get more info on where to meet other expats, or whatever cool tips you got.
Send me an email, or somethn’.
My name is Jim Trauba, and I’m planning on attending the same school as you in Shijiazhuang this summer. Before I start making concrete plans, I just want to hear a little more about students’ experiences. Your blog here has already been very helpful! But I have a few other questions. Does Konall try to plan activities with you outside of the language school?
As for the actual school… How are the facilities? What is the location like? Is it near places to eat (like lunch places)? Also, is there anything you think that needs to be said about the school?
Do you feel like your progress was worthwhile?
Lastly, would you recommend the program?
Thanks for reading all of my questions. I am pretty set on doing this program. I just need a little more confidence before I can go through with it. If there is anything that you think I should know as a student coming to this school, please let me know! 祝好
