New bath house

Today I went to a new bath house that Ryan recommended. I spent about 2 hours there, just using the spa. They had a steam room, dry sauna, and 3 pools of different temperatures (freezing, warm, and nearly boiling). It was all very lavish…..to the point that it would have rivaled the nicest places we have in the states.

Upon entering, I traded my shoes for slippers. An attendant then took me to my locker and opened it for me(electronic lock). I then spent about an hour sweating and jacuzzi-ing. There were attendants stationed at every door waiting to open them for me. While I was sweating, attendants brought me cups of water every 2 minutes. When I took my slippers off to go in the jacuzzi, an attendant would come and turn them around so that they would be easier to put back on when I got out of the jacuzzi. When I got out of the shower, they were waiting to hand me towels and dry me off (which still seems weird to me).

They had new 3 bladed razors that I used to shave. When I brushed my teeth, the attendant unwrapped a new toothbrush and put the toothpaste on it for me. They had 20 different kinds of soap and shampoo for the shower and I got a new bar of soap which I had to unwrap. When I got out of the shower and was getting dressed, they brought me dry slippers so that my pants wouldn’t get wet.

All in all, I was blown away by the level of service and amenities available for the great price of 12 yuan ($1.50 US). I don’t think I am ever going to use the rusty shower at my house again :)

I had lunch with Aaron, Ivy, and some girl from Minnesota. The meal was fantastic of course. After lunch, I decided to do some shopping and bought some workout pants at xinbai plaza. I was actually able to shop and bargain on my own. I was proud of myself.

I then met Ryan and a Chinese friend of his at a coffee shop. We had pistachios that were excellent and some nice green tea. The atmosphere was excellent. I think the coffee shop might become one of my regular study spots.

I found some different brands of potato chips that you all might find to be somewhat humorous. The first is Hokkaido grilled crab flavor:

The next is Mexican tomato chicken flavor:

There were also Classic American flavor chips and Italian red meat flavor chips. Finally, we have my rice cooker which says “Just think how happy friend will be when you give flower”. I have no idea why they stamped this on the side of a rice cooker or what they were trying to say in the first place:

You have found Nirvana. Why would you ever want to come back? I understand that you are coming home for New Year’s holiday. If you haven’t yet acquired a camcorder you could pick it up in the States and take it back with you. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about the PAS, NTSC codecs. Continue to stay healthy and have a great learning experience.
We are trying to recover from almost a foot of snow. Talk Soon.
