Bowling it up
For one of my last nights in China before coming back to the states, I thought it would be fun to take everyone from school out. Aaron, Ivy, Willa, Michael, Mary, and I all went out for dinner at the restaurant next to my gym (the Chinese restaurant and not the western one). After dinner, we had originally talked about going to sing Karaoke (KTV) but instead decided on going bowling
Bowling in China turned out to be a lot like it is in the states. In fact, it was exactly the same. I had expected them to do it differently, or have some strange rules, but there wasn’t a single difference. Anyway, we bowled a few warm-up games and then decided that everyone was pretty evenly matched except for Michael and Mary who had never bowled before. We started a serious game, and all of a sudden everyone turned it up a notch. Ivy wound up bowling a turkey and got the high score–a 160. For rolling a turkey, the alley gave her a piece of jewlery as a present. Michael and Mary had a combined 140 or so. I came in at just over 120, and was in fierce competition with Aaron who shot a 114. Willa picked up the rear not breaking 100.
All in all, a good time was had by all. The only thing that I didn’t like was how expensive it was. 1 game for 1 person cost around 16 RMB ($2 US). I would have guessed that it would have been 3 RMB or 4 RMB.
Everyone seems to want to do it again……..and I am definitely game

Hey Andy! Sounds like a great time. And of course it is SOOOO expensive to bowl for 16 RMB ($2), you are going to be in culture shock when you get home. You can barely buy a slushy from 7-11 for $2!!! So glad you are having fun with your friends. Have a great trip home. Fly safe!
