F1 Closer

Filed under: Unspecified — andrewstrauss @ 4:40 am

The last race of the Formula 1 season took place this weekend in Brazil. It was quite tense as the championship had not been determined. Fernando Alonso had 10 more points than Michael Schumacher, but if Schumacher took ten points with a win and Alonso didn’t earn a single point, a tie would have arisen.

The race for third was also very close, with Kimi Raikkonen, Giancarlo Fisichella, and Felipe Massa all in the running. The intensity was also elevated by the fact that it would be Schumacher’s last race before his retirement from Formula 1 racing.

Schumacher, however, got a bad break during qualify and had to start from 10th position. Thing then got worse a few laps into the race when he blew a tire and dropped back to 20th with nearly no hope of recovery. What a pity! He still managed to battle back for a 4th place finish, with a performance that all will remember. Massa won the race and Alonso took the season championship.

My favorite driver, Kimi Raikkonen, wound up in 5th place in both the race and overall for the year. He had some problems this season, but we will see how he does next year when he replaces Michael Schumacher as Ferrari’s main driver :)
Not a bad season…..next year will definitely be interesting without Schumacher and with Raikkonen driving a Ferrari.

I had a 1953 flat head 6 plymouth that could out run and maneuver any
F1 thru F12. If only I had access to the tires that are avaiable now.
