Happy New Year / Internet Problems
I just wanted to take a few minutes to wish you all a Happy New Year. I had a rather relaxing new year at home and didn’t do too much celebrating.
The Internet here in China was severely impacted by the earthquake in Taiwan. I still have tons of problems getting email, reading the news, etc. Things are better now, but they are still HORRIBLE compared to how they should be. I can’t believe that all the communications were so disrupted by a single earthquake. What a joke! I hope things get better soon and I can get back to regular postings.
Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year to you too!
That sucks about your internet, but hey, at least u HAVE the net…I’m still living in the dark ages over here…
On the other hand, I did just get back from Tokyo where I had the most crazy and insane New Year holiday imaginable. So I can’t really complain. Once I get my vonage up and running I’ll tell you all about it
Pure insanity.

Andrew:
Hang in there. Hope you’re keeping extra water in the apartment in case an EQ hits closer to your city. Your dad was telling me, with great pride, about your new endeavors. Very impressive. Good work. Glen really seemed to enjoy his visit to China. Most people don’t realize the transformation they have been going through. I know when I tell them about the shopping streets, Buick SUVs, and malls, they find it hard to believe.
Last night on PBS there was an hour documentary about two college students traveling by rail from Beijing to Guangzhou. Only took two weeks but they were able to show a lot of fantastic sights. I got excited when they reached Changsha as I was able to recognize a lot of the places they showed.
Happy New Year — and again on February 18th. BTW discovered some great Hunan style restaurants in the San Gabriel area. Excellent fish head soup, etc..
Be safe.
